A mirror selfie has a phone in it because the phone is what took it. Second Person removes it using the one thing every mirror selfie already has: the seconds you spent framing.
The number under the photograph tells you the split: how much was recovered from real observations, and how much had to be woven.
The camera stream, the buffer, the rebuild and the gallery are all local. The fonts and the depth model are served from this same origin rather than from a content network, so once the app has loaded it makes no outbound requests at all. You can prove it: put the phone in aeroplane mode and it still works.
